• Bea Jareno Jewellery

London-based jeweller Bea Jareno took up a two-week residence at the Crossing. Bea has been designing and making bespoke jewellery at her London studio for 14 years. Every unique piece is handcrafted from fair trade raw materials including sterling silver, yellow and white gold which she combines with carefully selected gemstones, beads and pearls. She describes her pieces as “minimal, graceful, in beautiful colours designed to create balance and harmony”. We sat down with Bea to find out more about her brand and her pop-up at The Crossing.

What inspired you to start the business?

Twenty years ago, I was living in Stoke Newington, North London near a jewellery studio called Metal Crumble. I had two rings made for me and thought it was the most amazing thing ever! After that I took a short jewellery-making course which lead me into a whole new career. It really is my dream to be able to open my own shop and studio space.

What sets your brand apart from others?

Bea Jareno Jewellery is an ethical brand. All our pieces are handmade in-house at our London studio. We work closely with local stone dealers, gold platers, outworkers and precious metals dealers to ensure the suppliers are getting a fair price. Most of our stock is recycled precious metals and our aim to used 100% recycled and eco-sourced materials in the near future.

We believe in creativity, slow living and quality. This is why we offer a bespoke service and can even use materials and stones from customers’ old jewellery to create new, contemporary pieces for them. We want to create a jewellery that will last a lifetime.

Though all of our pieces are a one-of-a-kind, they all have the unmistakable Bea Jareno style.

What is your current favourite Bea Jareno piece?

This is so difficult to answer - I love every single piece of Jewellery that I make! Every piece is made with love and attention to detail, so every one is special to me. I love the way every piece finds its rightful owner. I can’t choose… sorry!

How has the pop-up residency at The Crossing benefitted Bea Jareno Jewellery?

I absolutely adore The Crossing! Such a lovely, cosy space in the heart of West Brompton, surrounded by independent retailers. For us that was really important as we care passionately about this neighbourhood’s independent shops, shopping locally and supporting the community. The pop-up allowed our brand to stand out, increase our profile within the community and showcase our jewellery to new customers. I also learned a lot as I plan to open a permanent shop in the near future.

What are your favourite things to do around West Brompton Crossing?

I love the Hoarder and can’t wait to visit the Utter Waffle with my daughter, she’s very excited about that.

What’s next for Bea Jareno?

We continue to work from our South Wimbledon studio and are currently preparing for Christmas. For us the pop-up was a steppingstone towards opening our own shop in the near future. That would be a dream come true.
