Ribbon & Bow

London-based gift hamper company Ribbon and Bow was established in 2017. Each gift box is curated with the idea of helping people to connect with their loved ones near or far. We caught up with company owner and founder Temu Gbenedio to find out what makes her brand tick, and how she got on during her pop-up residency at The Crossing.

What inspired you to start Ribbon and Bow?

Ribbon and Bow was born out of the concept of beautiful and accessible gifting. With a growing family I found I had a lot less time scout shops to source unique, thoughtful presents to celebrate life’s special occasions. I wanted to help people create stronger relationships through personal and unique, easy gifting. Also I am inspired daily by the other brands I work with and also the amazing people I have come across on this journey.

What is it about your Ribbon and Bow that sets you apart from other gifting companies?

Ribbon and Bow is unique because of our focus on the customer. In our mission to make gifting easier for everyone, we make sure that our customers have a big say on the items we feature. We think of ways everyone can benefit from the gifting experience. By focusing on simple user experiences, we have come up with innovative features like, ‘Build Your Own Box’, accessing great quality items at the touch of a button whilst maintaining the personal experience with hand-written notes. As well as curating great products from some amazing brands, I also design and produce my own items adding to the authenticity of Ribbon and Bow.

Which of your products are your current favourites?

Each gift is unique and an integral part of someone’s important occasion. Each box is special to the relationship it represents, so there is something different about each one. I am a bit partial to the Ribbon and Bow soy candles because each one is hand poured by me. I take great care when making them and the perfectionist in me will not send out one I am not 100% proud of. I love the process of making candles and the idea of hem going to a new home to create a calming and relaxing atmosphere is very special.

How did the pop-up at The Crossing benefit your business?

Popping up at The Crossing gave me the opportunity to learn first-hand how a Ribbon and Bow physical shop (as opposed to online) could work. Having the retail space enabled me to meet customers and local residents face to face, having that interaction is priceless. Being at the pop-up definitely increased my brand awareness and enabled me to showcase my products to customers that may not have found me online.

What is your favourite thing to do at West Brompton Crossing?

I love popping next door to see The Hoarder team! They are always so welcoming, and I get inspired on every visit. We always have such great conversation and whenever I am back at the pop-up it feels like we have been reunited! Their lattes are great too! It is great to see new and exciting shops opening up, there’s always a fun spot to discover and it is such a great community to be part of.

What's next for you and your brand?

Each day I am learning and working hard to ensure that Ribbon and Bow is the go-to gifting place for all occasions. I have plans to expand and introduce more amazing gifts to the range. I’d love to collaborate with more creatives and up and coming brands - as well as grow the Ribbon and Bow team.
